NOTICE TO MEMBERSHIP REGARDING CHORAL FESTIVAL
Applications for this year's Choral Festival have been received and are being processed at this time (with special thanks to another snow day). As soon as I complete the scheduling, I will send out the list so that you can make sure your school, first of all, is on the list if you registered. If your school is missing, let me know immediately so that we can make the correction.
Secondly, because of the number of snow days again this year, schools will once again be allowed to perform 2 OR 3 selections for the choral festival. While we certainly encourage you to prepare 3 selections, we also understand the problems that arise from missing rehearsal time. Please review the policies placed on the MTVA web site regarding the festival, and notice that there is now a registration form that you are to bring WITH you to the festival, which will speed up the check-in process.
Be watching for the schedule in the next few days, and take time to review it for accuracy.
Thank you. I'm looking forward to a wonderful Choral Festival again this year!
Brenda Williams
NOTICE TO MEMBERSHIP REGARDING CHORAL FESTIVAL IMPORTANT INFORMATION--MAKE SURE YOU READ TO THE END!
Due to the inclement weather we have been experiencing, the deadline for the Choral Festival is being extended to Tuesday, January 18, 2011. By this date, please make sure you have registered for the festival online, and that your payment is in the mail, post-marked by Tuesday, January 18.
If your school system continues to miss school, preventing you from being able to process your check, the REGISTRATION deadline is still the same (Tuesday), but we will allow you to send your check late (as quickly as possible upon your return), attaching a letter verifying when you returned to school. We do not want to impose fees for circumstances beyond your control; however, we must get this information in so that we can proceed to prepare for the event.
CORRECTION TO THE EVENT INFORMATION - A mistake has been caught in the handbook and on the online registration form. We sincerely apologize for this oversight, although we must enforce it. Many of you will recall that we made a revision to the fee at the August 11, 2009 MTVA meeting. The change simply eliminated the "discount" which allowed for a fee of $1.00 per student for choirs over 40. The rate is now a straight $3.00 per student, regardless of the size.
We are working to get this formula corrected on the online registration form immediately. For those who have not registered yet, it should be corrected by the time you register. If you have already registered but not paid, please use the new formula - $3.00 per student. If you have already paid, you will receive and Invoice for the balance with a due date on it. This will allow directors to have documentation for their bookkeepers and time to process the paperwork. Please get these additional payments into Jeanette MacCallum by the due date on your invoice.
Again, we sincerely apologize for this oversight, but are trying to make reasonable accommodations so that this year's event will be the best ever!
